Beyond This Verizon
I now have a Galaxy Note 9 on my Sprint subscription. It’s very nice, but I doubt that it will turn me into the sort of person who likes to chat on the phone. Thanks for all the suggestions.

If, ghod forbid, you do hafta talk on the phone, a Bluetooth headset makes it almost tolerable.

Oh, heavens, smart phones aren't for TALKING on! I love my iPhone, but it's a terrible telephone. If I have to communicate with someone from my iPhone, I usually text. And if I have more than a couple of sentences to communicate I text the recipient to check their email and then write an email from my computer.

What I actually use my iPhone for: a calculator, camera, map/GPS device, notebook, weather station, to-do list, shopping list, trip diary, food diary, password database, timepiece, calendar, address book, game machine, Internet portal (looking stuff up), flashlight, pedometer, compass. I have enabled notifications from a few news services, so I get news flashes off and on throughout the day. Occasionally I use it for listening to music or reading (mostly when traveling), displaying a discount coupon or boarding pass, translating, converting units. There's not only a compass in there, but somehow there's an ALTIMETER. I have no idea how that works - maybe through GPS? I can't say I need that function very often, but it's fun to have when driving through the mountains.

It's not just the Internet that you have in your pocket now.
