Yeah, the pernicious Randroid influence of Pournelle is apparent even in Inferno, and positively reeks out of Lucifer's Hammer and The Burning City. I like Niven a lot - have read pretty-much all of Known Space - but I'm not interested in reading any more of his collaborations with Pournelle.

BTW, those who think Lucifer's Hammer is this awesome guide to surviving a major natural disaster are delusional, and need to get a grip. It's right up there with Leslie Fish's SCAdian prepper ballads like Serious Steel: a nice fantasy, but that's not how anything would work in real life.
