Defending Facebook
One of my father’s favorite jokes was, “I defended you. Someone said you weren’t fit to sleep with pigs, and I said you were.” (I probably have to add that he told it to me as a joke, not a statement of his feelings about me.) Facebook is fit to sleep with pigs. It is full of people pretending to be your friends but there isn’t all that much harm they can do.

Yep. This is pretty much where I am. I don't share much on FB besides animal pictures, recipes, and scorn for Donald Trump. Even if all the data-mining really is true, there's not much they'll get from me, and if we end up living in a nation where scorning Trump online can actually get you fired or arrested, well, that's not a nation I want to live in anyway. I have enough anxiety in my real life, I don't need ginned-up Facebook anxiety.

I've avoided the whole mess by simply not having Facebook.
