They are what they eat
Laughing at people for being vegetarians is like laughing at people for being gay when it is not like laughing at people for needing mobility devices. But of course oppressed groups are no better than we are. There are, for instance, the PETAmanes, who put up ads showing Black people as no better than animals and, when criticized, indignantly reply that they also think white people are no better than animals. (I’m willing to concede that they’re right about themselves.) And now we have the butthole wars.

What's that supposed to mean, anyway - "better than animals"? Hello, humans ARE animals, and we're not very nice animals either - we fought our way to the top of the food chain by being particularly good at sex, violence and wanton destruction, which are still our stock-in-trade. This pretty little planet would have been far better off if our kind had gone extinct before we ever learned to use fire - now we're burning and poisoning the entire global ecosystem, and may nuke it too, before we finally wipe ourselves out along with everything we ever loved.

Usually I like Wonkette, but that article is highly offensive. I'm not big on vegan food myself, and luckily have no dietary restrictions (besides "don't be a pig", which doesn't really count) so I don't have to eat it, but some people do have to, and other people choose to out of principle. It's certainly far healthier for both the individual and the planet than bacon and cheese on everything.

There was no need to diss the restaurant's food (which the writer has never tasted) in order to make the point that children can 'act like children' without rampaging naked and unchecked in a restaurant or disturbing strangers trying to eat the meal they paid for. The parents' excuse that the 1-year-old "got out of our site [sic]" is bullshit: what they mean is that they were not watching him. In the time it took him to pull off his diaper and climb onto a table, he could have suffered a terrible accident - or just disappeared, never to be seen alive again.
