Happy Halloween
I am old enough to remember when some people looked forward to Halloween all year because then they could dress as the sex they identified with and not be arrested. There has been progress.

And thank Each One's Whatever therefore.

That is a nice thought.. I saw a picture of a friend of mine dressed as Harlequin at a party last week and then yesterday he told me that two years ago he came out as genderfluid to his wife.

so I think it's still happening, but maybe not as much.

I went campaigning for Clinton Saturday and had a discussion with one woman where she expressed a lot of appreciation for what I was doing, and for my shirt ("Trust women - Protect Choice"), and my earrings (loops decorated with a rainbow of crystals). She had already commented that they didn't feel comfortable putting out Clinton signs due to the neighborhood they were in, but they were voting Clinton and would take lots of people with them to the polls, but it was only after I explicitely said this election was important for LGBTQ rights that she told me, "My wife and I will definitely be voting for her." I was glad to give her a positive experience, but afterward, the whole interchange mostly just made me feel down.

That it is this year, and this country, and this poor woman and her wife still feel surrounded by people who might hurt them if they knew their political views. And the political is personal.

So sad.
