Circling the drain
The New York Times cuts off another limb and is still in the trap.

This post, on Dreamwidth, contains a link to a Deadline: Hollywood story. Livejournal says the link is a “spam pattern” and won’t post it. I refuse to believe in a conspiracy amongst The Times, with its “even-handed” attacks on the Clinton campaign; Livejournal’s Russian overlords; and Trump’s Russian masters.

Hmmm, indeed
Interesting that you could post the link in a comment; I tried it in an entry on my journal and got the same error.

My tentative hypothesis is overzealous software error, not conspiracy.

Edit: My attempt included words to the effect of, "Deadline.com is banned for spam." Which still makes it strange that the filters don't work on comments - isn't that where most spam shows up, in comments?

The Deadline thing is several years old. I'm not sure what the root article was, but I recall the explanation was along the lines that Deadline had threatened LiveJournal with legal action or somesuch, and rather petulantly, they retaliated by blocking any links back to them, even now.

You can imagine how much fun that was to uncover, given my entries tend to be quite link-heavy.. I think I wound up basically removing them all, one by one, to observe when the error went away.

As I recall, LJ's owners are anti-Putin, hence the various DDoS attacks that have been mounted against LJ in the past.
