The point being made here is a valid and important one. People often misunderstand the comparison point of analogies. Corbyn was comparing the lack of responsibility that ordinary Jews and Muslims have for the Israeli government and for ISIS respectively; he wasn't comparing the Israeli government to ISIS.

But it's not very well or clearly argued, and it's entirely incorrect in applying it to the Bentsen/Quayle debate. What happened there was a correction of a bad comparison. Quayle was addressing the charge that he didn't have the maturity or gravitas to be President. His defense was that he'd served in Congress as long as JFK had, and JFK had proved to have those qualities. Bentsen's "You're no Jack Kennedy" was heard as simply pointing out that it takes more than mere time in office to acquire those qualities, and that what Quayle lacked was those additional features of personality.
