Furries get a bum rap.

Very good article, I think. I happen to have read Furry APAs in the early days, and to have attened the first three or four Furry Conventions (held here in the LArea during a dull part of the year). There was a bit more overt sexuality than I recalled from early s-f Fandom 30+ years before, but that fitted in with changes in mainstream society and didn't seem obnoxious. One thing that suprised (and pleased) me was the Furry emphasis on creating its own literature and mythos. The Fanzines many members produced included much really good story-telling and writing. I've been entirely out-of-touch with the microcosm for a decade or more, but that article sounds accurate in relation to what I saw of it back then.

It certainly continues! There's no shortage of stories being written, and SoFurry, DeviantArt, FurAffinity, and InkBunny are positively burgeoning with furry media of all sorts. ^_^

(And then, not really related, but sort of, is the whole universe of MLP, with perhaps even more creative sparks flying everywhere!)
