Basically, Twitter is the perfect platform for two things: snark and assholery…. In the end this is a lesson about economics. What happens when you vastly reduce the cost of being an asshole? Answer: the supply of assholes goes up.

Because of its nature, I find Twitter to be very helpful as a headline service, for me to get the news about topics I'm interested in. But yes, you do have to be able to put up with a certain amount of snark from strangers. I can control whom I follow, but not the annoying stuff that sometimes get reTweeted by people I follow.
