Why good Christians do bad things

I can understand this. If you believe option A is eternal torment, and option B is relatively short torment, you always pick option B, no matter how unethical or terrible.

I'm not persuaded that Jesus would have considered such people "good Christians". In the Sermon on the Mount (his one big public speech) he was quite explicit about the conduct he expected from those who would call themselves his followers. He also had a lot to say on the subject of hypocrisy.

The gymnastic move I find *most fascinating* is the evangelical redefinition of "witness" and thus "witnessing" to mean "conversion to the same sub-branch of Christianity as the speaker" - which allows them to pretend "thou shalt not bear false witness" means "don't convert people to the wrong religion", which conveniently frees them to lie their fool heads off about anything and everything.

That whole bit where Jesus tells them when they turned from him, and how they should treat the misfortunate? None of that matters. Romans Road! KJV only! 14/88!
