“Science-fiction starts with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein,”
SJWs didn't invent women and minorities in sf. From Playboy, which also has a long and admirable history of science fiction, though nowhere near as long.

Though Nabokov argued that "The Tempest" is science fiction, certainly "Forbidden Planet" was.
Also "Gulliver's Travels".
Not to say that "Frankenstein" wasn't a defining work of the genre, but this argument is seriously politically motivated and flawed.

There are many contenders for "first sf story." Lucian's True History is a popular choice.

True enough. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a sad puppy or a defender, but trying to say "Science-fiction starts with Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'" is a bit disingenuous. "SEE how wrong the puppies are? A WOMAN invented SF", nah.

Although as an argument that women writers in SF pre-date 1995, it's pretty choice.

People actually think they DON'T?

Those who believe in, and decry, the Monstrous Regiment of Women, don't believe it dates back very far, no.

You mean the Laurie R King book of that name?, he asked facetiously :)
Well, those people are idiots, and of no account

Yes, but there are a lot of idiots out there.

Over on my LJ, I've got someone trying to convince me that the historical view presented in the other article was meant as a sarcastic attack on Puppy views. I don't think so. There's too much unquestioning acceptance of Sad (if not Rabid) Puppy rhetorical nonsense in the rest of the article.
