Thanks for this. I'm not a Hasidic/Orthodox/Ultra-Orthodox Jew (or member of any religion), but it does a marvelous job of describing the painful problems of any religious person (including, I'm sure, those who live in any strongly Fundamentalist Christian social group) who discover that they are, in reality, atheists.

I don't know which I feel most strongly toward them -- pity, or envy. My family, on both sides, had (at most) only weak religious affiliations -- they were Masons, more than anything else. Now, they are all (in any practical sense) dead, and I'm getting old enough that I kinda wish I had some kind of social-group Support, but....
