Scary! Scary!  
Despite the Newspaper of Record, Ebola is not likely to go airborne. (Just as HIV and Hepatitis C didn't.)

The LJ RSS feed to Making Light seems to have stopped working; I haven't seen the last couple of posts here. Any idea what gives?

I'm very leery of "this COULD happen" arguments, but I seemed to recall from Preston's *The Hot Zone* that one variant, named Ebola Reston, did go airborne in monkeys. Apparently that's true, although the monkeys were co-infected with another monkey hemorrhagic fever.

I'm not sure why viruses in other species would go change transmission methods while those in people have never been known to, but I'll believe the article and take comfort in that statement.
