Unnatural act
Birth control is one of the best parts of human exceptionalism. We can use our unique abilities in language and science to ensure that the females of our species don't keep dropping babies till they drop dead.

True and valid, but referring to half the species as "our females" and "they" gets really old, and not at all exceptional. I know, you were never at risk of this, but "women" instead of "our females" wouldn't feel somewhere between possessive and othering.

Fixed. Thank you.

Agree about "our females," and glad he changed that--but can't help thinking about "they," as Supergee will never get pregnant no matter what. So "we" seems disingenuous, as in the joke about the husband referring to "our" giving birth ("...you're just along for the ride.")

Back on the same hand, I think he was othering, not women but the whole birth process. Which he personally has surgically opted out of, but which still generated him, is an issue for friends sometimes whether they want it or not, and overall is still part of the human condition.
