Feminism's Uncelebrated Weapon: Kindness
On not being a Cool Girl

Thanx to Feministing

Actually, for once, you've called this wrong. In the context of other recent posts by Sarah Ditum and her ally Glosswitch, this is a coded attack on intersectional feminists in the UK, particularly for their pro-trans attitudes and support for the no-platforming of transphobe feminists by student bodies.Ditum has gone on to speculate on Twitter that people she regards as women but who themselves identify as genderqueer are just being Cool Girls; Glosswitch wrote a piece arguing that there was no need to include specific discussion of trans men's reproductive issues in the struggle for reproductive freedom. When corrected by me, very politely, she wrote a piece in which she misgendered me by comparing me to an abusive husband. They are both part of a wing of UK feminism which is moving rapidly to being the acceptable face of anti-trans, anti-SW, anti-intersectionalist politics...

Thanks for the information. She did a pretty good job of covering it up in this essay.

Sure, I never said she was stupid - but if you put it next to, say, Glosswitch's piece about 'smugsexuals'. it becomes clear in context that it's an attack on specific individuals, some of whom write alongside her for the New Statesman or Feminist Times.

I didn't have specific information, but the idea that feminism supplied a reliably nurturing environment seemed very implausible.
