Gee whiz
Once again, "The editor of Nature thinks he is the Author of nature." He got so angry at criticism from science blogger Dr. Isis that he told everyone her real name. She is taking it in stride.

Thanx to theweaselking

I'm trying to figure out what Henry Gee did that earned him criticism to which he responded in such a manner. The words used in your source to describe him, which make clear that this outing is only the latest example, are mighty strong.

But from reading both the material it links to, and Isis's blog, all I can find is: He published some other guy's really condescending piece of sexist-essentialist fiction/essay a couple years ago. What am I missing?

Uh...everything?

Well, thanks for telling me nothing. Why bother, if it isn't just to be belittling?

OK, here's lots of stuff, including some history, courtesy of Dana Hunter: http://freethoughtblogs.com/entequilaesverdad/2014/01/23/the-doxxing-of-isis-selected-links/#more-21291

I believe she's going to be posting more in a bit. Note that she has tried and failed to get Gee's side of this.

OK, but, at a glance, this appears to be mostly about the outing of Isis. But I already know about the outing of Isis. That's not what I was asking about. What I'm trying to find out is what Henry Gee did before that, that caused Isis to criticize him so strongly that he was moved to out her, in revenge or whatever.

supergee begins his post with "Once again ..." implying that Henry has done things this bad before. Like what?

theweaselking's post calls him "dumbass and dipshit and worthless excuse for human being" in terms that seem to read that he was already that before the outing, and that indeed he outed her for pointing it out. When was this and what did he say? All I could find from before the outing in Isis's files was that bit about his publishing some other guy's sexist trash. That's bad, certainly, but is it by itself reason to call him "dumbass and dipshit and worthless excuse for human being"? It sounds to me as if there was more than that. What?

"Once again" was a reference to the "Author of nature" joke, rather than to anything this editor had done before. Perhaps I should have made that clearer.

Wow, I didn't know subjecting people to threats of bodily violence and endangering them was part of scientific debate, or the debate about how scientists conduct science. Ugh. *makes note of this*
