Explosive dieresis  
Lingua Franca (not, alas, the magazine of blessed memory) cruelly mocks the cute use of diacritical marks. One they missed: A local car-dealership chain called Pepe uses a symbol I cannot reproduce because it exists in no earthly language: an acute accent over the second P.

We took the back roads down to Corpus...in one small town, I saw a sign for a taqueria that had a tilde over the final a.

I've seen that - admittedly on a broken sign in Portuguese, where the final "o" had fallen off....
