Exactly 89.9732% of psychology is crap  
Questioning a Psych theory with equations in it.

So, basically, if someone said, "We find that if people make a real effort to have about three times as many positive thoughts than negative ones, it makes their life better," nobody would have a real problem with that. But "2.9013" isn't the sort of number that actually comes out of observations of people's emotions...

Back in the day, I started college as a psych major. I changed my career plans because I decided that conducting scientific research creates an environment significantly different from the real world where nobody's controlling the variables or hand-picking the subjects, so the research findings just might be irrelevant to the real world.

(It's deeply disturbing how much psychological research is conducted by requiring second-year psych majors to sign up as research subjects. College sophomores are not necessarily representative of the general population.)
