Once again, the Right panics over something I don't find tempting
Salsa: threat or menace?

Thanx to Pandagon.

The truly hilarious about that Drudge report is that the "breaking news" is 20 years old.

My thought exactly.

As I've observed conservatives gain power in Texas, I've also observed the watering down of the salsa, until it too often resembles chunky tomato paste with a hint of cilantro and no sign of heat. Now I KNOW that other states shipped their conservatives here to destroy the Texas way of life.

Take them back! I'm sending them home! No more. I require intelligent, enlightened conversation while enjoying salsa that brings tears of joy, and, occasionally, just tears, to my eyes.

I remember when Lyndon Johnson was the less liberal senator from Texas. Oh, for the days of Ralph Yarborough and the serious populist liberals who did so much for Texas and the US.

As for salsa, if it's not at least Pace medium, I'm not interested.

I happen to be (slightly) allergic to capsicumoids, so I avoid salsas. I also have a MidWestern/Northern Ohio childhood background that causes me to feel that every Big Family Meal really ought to have at least one Hot Dish that contains Campbell's condensed cream of (something -- my preference is mushroom) soup. And I Confess that the first time I ran a Consuite I didn't provide _any_ salsas. (And the few times since then, only randomly-picked-from-the-shelves selections. Peccavi, Domines.) And hey, better you shouldn't see me in an Indian or Ethiopian or Southern Chinese, or Thai -- much less Mexican -- restaurant. Or, if I had my druthers, you should, because I find most of the non-chili dishes great, and you might well enjoy the sight of someone indulging in gluttony .

Grumpf. The point I should have been strong in making is that, hey, I might rear-back at someone's taste in cuisine, but I've never yet encountered any that I think deserved more than a raised eyebrow from me, and Mr. Drudge strikes me as being an excessively domineering person.
