Unsung  
10 unsung heroines. Small disagreement: Florence Nightingale seems sufficiently sung that I'd rather she'd listed Mary Seacole.

Seriously, Florence Nightingale is the definition of Designated Female Historical Figure. Like most DFHFs, she's a lot more interesting than her thumbnail portrayal. But that doesn't make her unsung.

My image of Florence Nightingale is as one of Lytton Strachey's Eminent Victorians, where the cantankerousness is not waved away.

Agreed on Mary Seacole; I found out about her from Simon Schama's A History of Britain.
