Do people call straight women "man-haters" who don't like to perform fellatio or who think hairy testicles are gross? Maybe they do, but I don't think I've ever heard that.

I don't think calling performing a sexual act that one doesn't enjoy, even actively dislikes, "a difficult chore" is out of line.

I think it's problematic when you feel okay about telling someone you are in an intimate relationship with that a part of their body is "objectively gross".

I am very uncomfortable with the idea of having expectations that someone should do anything they don't like in bed. However, I think there are better and worse ways of expressing that you don't like something and don't wish to engage in it. It's damaging to a person's self-image to constantly be told that some part of your body is objectively gross for doing only the things it's meant to do. I dated a guy like this for far too long, and he liked to express opinions about qualities of my vulva and vagina that he had never personally experienced (due to my belief that it's not okay to expect someone to do things they don't like in bed).

I don't think this guy is necessarily a woman-hater. I do think he's immature and a little pathetic.

Nothing is objectively gross. If there's anything that's the very essence of subjective, it's whether something is gross.

What makes this guy a creep is his erection [sorry] of his personal tastes into the laws of the universe.

I certainly disagree with his use of "objectively"--and I think that his using it does point to your characterization of him as "immature." But as I say to redbird, I was reacting not to him but to what the blogger wrote.

If a man doesn't like to perform oral sex, he doesn't have to do it. One obvious answer would be for him to look for partners among women who don't like it or don't consider it a big deal. But he's not saying "I'm not into that," a statement about his preferences: he's calling women's bodies "objectively" gross, for attributes that also apply to men's bodies, namely hair and that receiving oral sex leads to the production of bodily fluids. (I haven't done any sort of survey, but I gather that more women than men shave their genitalia. Again, he could look for partners who already shave, or who would be willing to shave if he asked them to, rather than declaring vaginas disgusting.)

I was reacting not to him--I think noveldevice's characterization as "immature and a little pathetic" is good--but to what the blogger wrote.

Some do; at least I've heard that, in both the "she said hairy testicles are gross, she's a man-hater" and "she obviously hates men, she calls herself a feminist, wants equal pay, and doesn't like fellatio" versions.

Thanks for the information. I really don't think I've ever heard it, but there's pretty much nothing that I think that no one anywhere would ever say.

"People" do call straight women man-haters for not liking that, yes.

that statement stands alone and implies nothing more.

He says that almost all of his sexual experience was with women, but, of his top three, only two were with women. He likes dicks, and is grossed out by pussies.

I'm not convinced he's straight.

The guy I dated with this attitude, my male friends all said they thought he was pretty clearly not actually heterosexual just based on his attitudes about other things. When, after the breakup, I shared the opinions around sex that had been problematic for me, my male friends were pretty vocal about how men who actually like having sex with women don't say stuff like that.

I'm still not sure he was gay, and I think there's even less evidence that this guy is gay, since I don't know him, but it is pretty evident that he really doesn't want to be having sex with women, so I think, for the sake of women everywhere, he should stop.
