Inability to defer gratification  
There are areas in which I recognize my own deficiencies, and I have mixed feelings about how many of my fellow Americans fall short of even the abysmal standard I set. Unable to live in the moment, I find myself starting to look forward to next year's NFL draft. But wait! The discussion of that future began on the NFL Web sites as soon as this year's draft ended.

It's even worse in an area I find much less fun. The second term of Barack Obama has not yet begun, and as we all know, it will last for four years. Nevertheless, many of those Paul Krugman calls the Very Serious People cannot control their excitement over the question of whether Hillary Clinton will succeed him. Charles P. Pierce discusses.
