I've kind of suspected that if anyone is discriminated against, it would be Asian Americans, not white people. The point about legacy admissions is a good one.

Yet another case of poor white people being shucked by rich white people. I say get rid of both legacy admits and affirmative action; admit students solely on the basis of their accomplishments.

Obviously, this would require the admissions boards to do 'blind' admissions reviews, identifying applicants by numbers rather than names, so as not to reveal gender, ethnic heritage or family connections. But that's not rocket science.
