Not this time
I go back to the time when we Jews were the sinister, swarthy, hook-nosed Levantines. It isn’t any better when it’s the Muslims instead. I don’t think there will actually be a Muslim registry (but I also didn’t think the country was mean and stupid enough to elect Trump), but if there is, let’s all sign up. Here’s George Takei, remembering a similar bit of “national security.”

Thanx to elenbarathi

I'll keep that in mind as I assemble a mental list of Things I Can Personally Do if things get as bad as they just might.

However, given the astonishing resurfacing of anti-Semitism during this campaign, just registering as a Jew may turn out to be enough. I wonder if they'd let you register as both?

it will probably take a form we won't be able to use the Spartacus strategy with--they'll probably target Muslim immigrants, not citizens, like they did under the Bush administration, so probably our best bet is contributing as much as we can to the ACLU to fight for us.

The King of Denmark never actually wore the Star of David -- he just told the German Governor that he was going to, and the Germans said, "Oh, never mind"....

The thing we need to start wondering is, how might the GOPers abuse and scapegoat minorities in ways that it wouldn't be so easy to embarrass them?

That was my thought, too. Everybody sign up.

We had a Muslim registry from 2002 to 2011. What makes you so sure they won’t start it up again?

It's a point that should be made: the Republicans are celebrating cowardice as a virtue. We should act hideously, because we're afraid. That is not the proper response of a nation whose anthem proclaims it to be the home of the "brave".
