What an awesome essay. She totally nails it.

So much so that it's kind of eerie, because... I was once the rich blonde girl at boarding school, who didn't care about anyone's ethnicity, only about whether they liked Star Trek. My little clique (which included one brown girl) accounted ourselves the Vulcan Science Academy in exile, united against our foes: the illogical bitches who wanted to watch Happy Days rather than Star Trek in the TV room each evening.
