When I saw the words "mathematical knitting," my first thought was 'Dept of Redundancy Dept. All knitting involves mathematics.' But, then I was delighted to see two of my favorite knits: the klein bottle hat and the moebius neckwarmer. It just doesn't get any better than those two. Recently, I saw patterns for Viking "futhark" runes knitted as raised surface on flat background. Very nice.
